JAMIE CLARK AND THE REFRACTORS SHINE AT THE 1999 GUINNESS FLEADH!
If you missed Jamie Clark and the Refractors performance at this years 1999 Guinness Fleadh Festival, then you may have missed the most exciting show Clark and crew have ever played. They went on about 12:50 PM in the Irish Village Tent to a festive crowd of three hundred or so. However, by the time they finished with their theme song, "I'll Be Alright", thousands of fans and newcomers to the Jamie Clark experience had circled the stage.
Their short but energetic set had a mixture of both new and old songs, with such favorites as "Remember Me", "I'll Be Alright", and "Baby It's You" from their debut album 11:11, along with some unrecorded tunes like "Parents and their Son" and "Lucy". Jamie also previewed a couple new songs, including the title song from his upcoming new album "Fleeting Jade", to be released this fall. The crowd went crazy when the newest addition to the Refractors, fiddle player Hugh O'Carroll, was featured in an instrumental jam, appropriately titled "Hugh's Irish Reel". When the performance was over hundreds of fans rushed the stage to talk to Jamie and get copies of his album 11:11 as well as his new demo LP. So many people wanted copies and more information on Jamie Clark and The Refractors, that he ran out of the CD's and had to give the crowd his web address.
If you missed the show, you may be in luck, Clark brought a video production crew with him and plans to release several songs from this show on a new video due out in August titled "An Evening with Jamie Clark." The video will highlight Jamie Clark and The Refractors live, along with interviews and some of the stories behind the music.
